Summary (Aaron's match report to come - I am sure it will mention Charles' excellent spell of bowling, the youngest ever side to turn out for the 4s (average age of 20 even counting the skipper) and the discipline shown by CLCC when batting to use up 52 overs) While awaiting Aaron's report, the skipper would like to congratulate the 4th XI for all turning up on time and ensuring the ground was ready for play by the time the opposition arrived. Sterling effort Match report: by A.Shaikh. The 4ths managed to pull a decent squad out with the middle order being exceptionally strong. Guneet Wadwha had a fine nick to the keeper then found company from Rehan Haq soon after with a similar dismissal. Aaron (mountain burger) Shaikh faced 6 balls and he found himself walking back after chasing a wide one. Phillip Smith carried on some good form but fell at 37 to a cutting short ball. Anghad (variety meal) Arora managed to hit a full toss straight to mid on which left Chiswick in tatters. The over mark was 26 and the team now looked as if it would be joining the 3s with another low score. But J Shaikh managed to defend 18 overs for 7 runs as he supported both Yates and Singh. The bowling from the Raza (a white man) was tight and supported well from all bowler. A Lawrence managed to smack one straight back to the Raza who split his hand wide open in the action! Ian Smith scored his highest score and gave Singh a chance to bludgeon a few boundaries to post a defendable score of 173. Tea was the usual and the team came out with some buzz. Singh bowling tight from one end was not backed up from the other bowlers and the new ball was lost early on. Bertlin the new boy came on and showed a great deal of promise. Bertlin listened to ideas and executed them to perfection (one for the future well done). A Lawrence’s bowling debut showed potential but wasn’t able to grab anything out of the days play. There were a few chances in between with run out chances missing and catches going down, but the bowling was simply not enough to hold Farnham back. Disheartening result with A Shaikh and Haq really needing scores here, perhaps more runs may have swayed the pressure. The attitude however was alot better with everyone arriving on time and the spirit being good on the field. Next Week is cancelled but I’m sure the following week will see better results for the 4th XI (we know what we need to do) Man of the match: Satnam Singh bowled, batted, and fielded exceptionally Catch of the Match: Jordan Shaikhs Excellent drop to an absolute dolly Thanks For Coming: Arthur Lawrence getting out to a full toss off a rather large bowler and going for 13 in his last over (heavyrain!)
