Club Dinner Report

The Annual Dinner on 31st October saw the traditional mix of quality food and humour. The Club is used to providing fireworks on the pitch, but the Dinner saw the real thing with a fine display on the Whitton outfield. As Club President Basil Keen said grace the rockets and bangers in the background gave proceedings a surreal air but his professionalism won through.

After enough starters to feed a small army, and curry and kulfi too, it was time for the speeches. Luke Redman spoke of past Committee meetings and interesting selection discussions, in a style reminiscent of Ricky Gervais if you used your imagination. With little in the way of notes, it was a smooth performance now available on DVD in all of Hounslow’s 99p shops.

The Club Secretary filled in for Steve Rushworth who had been laid low by swine ‘flu. There were demands for a refund from some, but others offered to pay a bit extra. The resultant speech seemed to go down well; clearly not everyone had heard the jokes as often as Derek Hill, who pointed out a range of inaccuracies.

Thanks are due to Preeti Catering who provided a superlative spread once more, Simon Daldry who did the vast majority of the organising, Simon Barnes who acted as toastmaster, and everyone present for sparing us any Richie Benaud impersonations.

Change of venue for Winter nets: CLCC moves venue of Winter cricket nets to Southall in West London

From 30th January, CLCC is moving to Featherstone Sports Hall for nets on Saturdays.

Winter nets for cricketers in West London

We have a new venue for winter nets this year - Hampton Sports, Arts & Fitness Centre. Details of where to find them are below.

All are welcome - whether you are an existing club member or want to give Chiswick & Latymer a try this year.

Sessions are taking place on Saturdays 4pm - 5pm starting 9th January. Cost is £5 for adults and £3 for colts. Please contact Paul Piper (his email address is at the top of the home page) to book your place or for more details.

Summer BBQ at Whitton - date announced for August 15

This year's Summer BBQ will be held at Whitton on Saturday 15 August 2009 from 7pm.

Cricket nets and training in West London - tonight and every Thursday at Whitton

Starting tonight at 6.30 at our ground in Whitton, Clyde Scott is running net sessions and fitness training for all club members and those interested in joining the club to play cricket.

Please turn up if you fancy having a net - training will take place afterwards.

Chiswick and Latymer's season starts this weekend ...

Only two days to the start of the season for Chiswick & Latymer. There are two confirmed fixtures for the Saturday 1s and 2s (the 3s are hopeful of a fixture but their original opposition could not field a side). There are two games planned for the two Sunday sides as well. Please check the cricket fixtures section for details.

Chiswick and Latymer CC update - the latest on playing cricket in west London for 2009

New web site. New season. And plans are already underway to ensure the 2009 season is a success for Chiswick and Latymer Cricket Club. Following January's AGM, there have been a few changes at the club and indoor nets are underway and fixtures are being prepared for the new season which will start in April. If you want to play cricket at some of the best grounds in West London, please let one of the committee know. We are a friendly club and always look for new players.
All are welcome to nets, which are being held on Sundays between 1-2pm at Brentside School's indoor sports hall in Greenford. Interested players (old and new) should contact Paul Piper if you'd like to come along.
Clyde Scott has taken over the ordering of cricket whites and kit for the club. If you have any requests, or orders, for clothing or other C&L branded kit, please let him know. There is some old stock (at very reasonable rates, I'm assured) but we could be ordering some kit from scratch. If you're looking for caps, sweaters etc, please let me know.
As ever, we are actively recruiting for new players - if you know someone who is interested in joining the club or trying us out for a few games, please ask them to email Steve Rushworth who will ensure they get all the information they need and that their details are passed on to the selection committee in time for the start of the season.

New WebsiteTheme

As a new season approaches us we have some exciting (to some) updates to the way the club website looks. As you might have noticed we have now tried two different themes in the past week or two. The first being Golden/Orange in colour and the second being the current Blue/White theme. early indications are that the blue theme is prefered over the Gold one but this can all change pending any further feedback we receive.

I have now finished up the results page and it now looks as follows:

As discussed in the club committee meeting the contact details for the club members is now made visible to logged in users(i.e authenticated). I also have the option of showing their home address but have opted against it at present. This page now looks as follows:

I have also reactivated the events and photo Menu options and uploaded some photos. I would encourage you to do the same and even better post some events. The Photos page now looks as follows:

I'll be applying a similar look as the Results page for the statistics and fixtures page along with changes to the scorecard pages. Changes are also planned for the Home page ( reloacation of the Login Panel so admin tasks would be available from the Membership pages)

This months ChiLatty attached - special focus on the last day of the league season.

UNDER 17'S League play off now in the S.Finals

U 17's Colts now go to NPL Teddington on the Mon 25th Aug for the semi finals in the league play offs after beating Ruislip by 10 wkts at whitton yesterday. Our colts are confident to be the winners in the finals to be played on the same day.

Area County Cup Semi finals

U17's play Harrow St Mary's this Sunday 3/08/08 morning at 0915 start to accomodate all the participating colts play their respective senior league games in the afternoon as one of the games is away to Byfleet and the colts intend to get there without making a pit stop so chiLatty supporters see you at byfleet with your picnic baskets!!

U 17's Cup Final

U 17's Final on Thursday 17th July 1800 hrs against Ashford U17's at Ashford. Be there to support your colts and cricketers of tomorrow. It’s time for all the members to put something back into the club and support C&L U17's win this cup and play a part in their Success at Ashford cricket club. See you all there !!

We play away to Ashford on Monday 21st July in the Area play off at Ashford.

Folks just to let you know that our Under 17's are doing very well this season and are top of their legue table as you can see below. They have 1 league game left to play against Twickenham on the 11th July. An event in your dairy not to be missed as they can do with home support in thier last game at Whitton.

July ChiLatty postponed

As I am otherwise engaged moving house for the next week or two I've decided to postpone the edition of the ChiLatty due out on 4th June. The next edition will be published in late July. To compensate the many disappointed readers the next edition will be a special bumper issue with a big focus on the forthcoming tour to East Kent (send me your stories and pictures from past tours). This will be in addition to the usual features.
