HISTORY
Chiswick & Latymer Cricket Club was formed in October 1999 a result of the merger of Old Meadonians CC and Old Latymerians CC. At the time, both clubs were experiencing serious difficulties, but the newly merged club has thrived, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for both competitive and friendly cricket.
The club has bases at the Old Latymerians Sports Club, Whitton and Chiswick House; the former homes of the two previous clubs. We field four Saturday sides in the Morrants Thames Valley League, providing an appropriate level of opposition and good facilities at all levels. There has been some success too: each season since 2001 to date has seen at least one side promoted. In 2005 the 2nds and 4ths both achieved promotion and rose to higher levels than ever before.
The club also fields a side in the Griffin Sunday League. One of the highlights of the club's existence thus far was winning this league in 2001, having finished bottom the previous year without winning a match. The club repeated this triumph in 2004. By regularly fielding two sides on Sundays, the club also plays a large amount of good friendly cricket against local sides.
Another of the club's strengths is its expanding colts section. With teams based at both Whitton and Chiswick, groups are run for all ages from Under 9 to Under 15, under the guidance of qualified CRB checked coaches.
The club is particularly fond of tours, with their mix of cricket, socialising and memorable stories. 2000 saw the club visit Corfu and return home with a 100% record (one win, three rained off!) and since 2001 the club has had a week in Cambridge around mid-season. In 2002/3 the club embarked on its most ambitious venture yet, a two and a half week trip to Australia, which resulted in a playing record of 50% and a great time being had by all. The past 3 summers saw us based in Canterbury whilst it is planned that we will be touring Oxfordshire for 2009.
So whether you're looking to play regular League cricket or the occasional friendly, we would love to hear from you!
